So You Want To Build A Content Website
So you want to build a content website to use with Google AdSense or Yahoo Search Marketing. This is really a good way to generate some extra income from Internet advertising, but there is something you should know. Many people simply buy one of the many ready-made content sites and post it on their web hosting server. This is not going to make it easy for you to get index in the major search engines because they will see this as just another duplicated website. The search engine want to provide the best quality content and duplicated sites just waste their time and resources. They are looking for original content and lots of it.
What can you do? Create a website with a specific purpose around the articles. This provides the search engines with an original website to index.
This site contains many of the same articles found in those turnkey content sites. However, the articles have been excluded from the search engines indexes in the robots.txt file. I don't want those articles being indexed only to have my site banned for duplication. I do however, want the Google media bot to index the articles to provide relevant content. Be sure you add these two lines to your robots.txt file:
User-agent: Mediapartners-Google*
Disallow:
The Google AdSense Crawler from the Google Crawler used for the search engine index. So it will not effect your search engine placement. The AdSense Crawler only attempts to access the URLs that are requesting Google ads. If you block it, you get public service ads.
It then goes without saying that you should open every page that has a Google ads, if the page is never opened it will not receive an AdSense crawl.
